Rattle (ra'ashan, grager) with toothed wheel and flexible wooden blade that clatters as the handle is turned. Shaped by turners in villages of Eastern Europe, it served to drown out the name of Haman during the reading of the Megila. A popular and inexpensive model, sometimes painted in bright colors, wielded by children at Purim.
