Marriage deed (ketouba) printed with engraved border from Amsterdam

Marriage contract whose ornamental border is printed by copper engraving, the text being calligraphed in the central reserve. Hebrew printers in Amsterdam distributed these reusable frames, with columns, baroque allegories and putti. An economical and elegant solution, the process spread to other Western Sephardic communities.
