Rigid Torah Case (tik) in Wood and Silver from Baghdad

Rigid cylindrical case enclosing the Torah scroll according to the practice of Mesopotamian communities, which stands upright and opens like a book for reading. Baghdad examples have a wooden core entirely sheathed in plates of repoussé and engraved silver with scrollwork and inscribed cartouches. A crown, end caps and pointer often complete the ensemble.
