Circular silver plate intended to receive the newborn or the instruments during brit milah. The center is adorned with a repousse floral motif and a Hebrew inscription drawn from the covenant, the undulating rim bearing rinceaux and fleurons in Ottoman fashion. These plates, commissioned by wealthy families of the great Sephardic communities of the Empire, also served as gifts to the mohel.
