Bimah Platform Cover Embroidered in Ottoman Empire

Cloth covering the reading table of the central platform during the service, on which the Torah is unrolled. In Ottoman Sephardic synagogues, it is embroidered with gold thread on velvet or silk, decorated with arabesques and a crown, in harmony with the ark curtain and the lectern cover. It protects the wood and enhances the liturgical center of the community.
