(Silver Eternal Lamp (Ner Tamid) from the Ottoman Empire)

विवरण

Lamp suspended to burn permanently in front of the holy ark, symbol of the Temple flame. Ottoman goldsmiths worked it in repoussé and pierced silver, in the shape of a vase or elaborate cup carried by three or four chains united at a suspension rosette. The floating oil reservoir diffuses a continuous light; a dedicatory inscription is often engraved on it.
