Zaghouan

Zaghouan, mountain town in north-central Tunisia, famous for its Roman springs, welcomed a small Jewish community under Ottoman and French periods. Jewish families there devoted themselves mainly to craft, peddling and small commerce. This community, like most provincial Tunisian Jews, emigrated to Tunis and then to Israel and France during the twentieth century.
