Spoleto, former capital of the eponymous Lombard duchy and then papal city, hosted a medieval and modern Jewish community attested in communal and papal sources. Jewish presence is documented in the thirteenth century with lenders, and continues until the restrictions of the Papal States in the sixteenth–seventeenth centuries.
