Saint-Louis of Senegal, former capital of French West Africa, had in the eighteenth–nineteenth centuries a small number of Jewish merchants, often linked to commercial networks from Bordeaux involved in the trade of gum arabic and other commodities. This presence was marginal and ephemeral, without resulting in the establishment of an organized community.
