Pruzhany (Pruzana)

Pruzhany (in Belarusian Pruzhany, in Polish Prużana) is a city in western Polesie (Brest region, Belarus), whose Jewish community is attested from the 17th century onward and represented more than half the population before the Second World War. In January 1943, about 10,000 Jews from the Pruzhany ghetto were deported to Auschwitz-Birkenau, where nearly all were murdered upon arrival.
