Lleida (Lérida) is a city of Catalonia-Aragon, on the middle course of the Ebro. It hosted an important medieval Jewish aljama, a center of rabbinic studies and flourishing commerce until the anti-Jewish violence of 1391, then the expulsion of 1492.
