Lincoln

City of Lincolnshire, Lincoln sheltered one of the most important Jewish communities of medieval England, documented from the 12th century with a Jewry (Steep Hill, still visible) and a royal Archa. Aaron of Lincoln (died c. 1186), one of the richest men in England, operated there; the community was expelled in 1290 with all Jews from England.
