Bourg de Zemgale en Lettonie méridionale, Dobele (Dobl en allemand) comptait une petite communauté juive documentée aux XVIIIe–XXe siècles, principalement commerçante. Elle fut presque entièrement massacrée en 1941 par les unités allemandes et leurs auxiliaires lettons.
