Bălți (Beltsy)

Bălți (in Russian Beltsy) is the second city of Moldova. An important Ashkenazi Jewish community attested since the 18th century prospered there, with a reputed rabbinate; the community was largely exterminated during the Shoah under Romanian-German occupation.
