Historical letter from the Holocaust period, in the handwriting and signed by Rabbi Isaac Meir Ha-Cohen Levin, (11th Heshvan 1942, November 22, 1942).
In the letter he recounts "the sufferings of our people, in the ghettos of Poland", continuing he writes "for I heard today truly, horrifying things that are impossible to hear and very difficult to believe. For example, that there are two factories, God forbid, to kill people and extract their fat from their bodies and crush the bones". He continues and writes "that the Jews from Belgium, Holland and Germany are truly being led to slaughter and kill. From Warsaw, God forbid, 100,000 people in this manner, from Lublin 50,000 and those in Russia they did not allow even one to live".
He writes: "...Hitler gave an order apparently, truly God forbid to carry out complete destruction, God forbid, of the Jews of Europe. It is understood that everything is in fog, and everything is only rumors. But there are to our sorrow signs of this".
