Autoemancipation, Appeal to His Fellow Tribesmen, by a Russian Jew [אוטואמנסיפציה, מאת יהודי רוסי]. Berlin, 1882. First edition.
Y. L. Pinsker, 1821-1891, physician, intellectual, and Zionist activist, among the leaders of the Ḥibat Zion movement. In 1882 he published this work anonymously. In the book, Pinsker explains that the dream of Jewish emancipation has no hope, since the hatred of Jews has become a mental disease among nations, which he called "Judeophobia." In this work, Pinsker disabuses himself of the dream of integration and calls for solving the Jewish question by establishing a homeland for the Jewish people, preferably within the territories of Eretz-Israel. German. 36 pp., 23 cm. Good condition. Few stains, pencil markings. Hard cover, not original.
