Sukkot, the Feast of Booths, extends the festivals of Tishrei: for seven days one dwells in the sukkah, a booth with a vegetated roof, and one waves the four species (lulav, etrog, hadas, arava). An agricultural pilgrimage feast, it celebrates divine protection in the desert and joy (zeman simhatenou), culminating at Hoshana Rabba.
