Saadia ben Joseph (882–942), Gaon of Sura, is the author of the Emunot ve-Deot ("Beliefs and Opinions"), the first great philosophical synthesis of rabbinic Judaism. Drawing on reason and tradition, he treats creation, divine unity, free will, providence, and redemption, responding notably to the Karaite challenge and the philosophical currents of his time.
This Great Book does not yet have published chapters. The chapters — each bearing its register, its epistemic status and its sources — will be added as editorial enrichment and assisted generation progress.
