The New Jewish Man (1948)

A thematic Great Book on the ideal of the “New Jew” carried by Zionism and embodied at the birth of the State: the pioneer (halutz), the sabra, the worker of the land and the fighter, in rupture with the figure of exile. It explores the “negation of the galut,” the relationship to the body, to labour and to the recovered Hebrew language as matrices of a refounded identity.
