The text of the Babylonian Talmud exhibits numerous variants (girsa'ot) among manuscripts and printed editions, owing to manuscript transmission and censorship. Medieval commentators already emended readings (hagahot), as did Rabbenu Hananel. Modern scholarship, using manuscripts such as the Munich codex and the Lieberman project, compares these witnesses to establish a more accurate text.
This Great Book does not yet have published chapters. The chapters — each bearing its register, its epistemic status and its sources — will be added as editorial enrichment and assisted generation progress.
