In Ghardaïa, in the Saharan M'zab valley, lived a small, isolated Jewish community that remained outside the emancipation of Algerian Jews (the Crémieux Decree applied there only in 1961). Silversmiths and traders, they preserved Berber customs and a traditional way of life. They left Algeria in 1962, mainly for France.
This Great Book does not yet have published chapters. The chapters — each bearing its register, its epistemic status and its sources — will be added as editorial enrichment and assisted generation progress.
