Scattered across the mountains of Iraq, Iran and Turkey, the Jews of Kurdistan spoke Neo-Aramaic dialects (lishana deni, lishanid noshan), direct heirs of the Talmudic tongue. Rural communities of farmers, muleteers and peddlers, they venerated local saints and celebrated the Seharane festival. Almost all emigrated to Israel in the 1950s.
This Great Book does not yet have published chapters. The chapters — each bearing its register, its epistemic status and its sources — will be added as editorial enrichment and assisted generation progress.
