Present in Persia since antiquity, Jews lived in quarters (mahalleh) in Isfahan, Shiraz, Hamadan and Yazd, speaking Judeo-Persian dialects. Under the Shi'ite Safavids they endured forced conversions and the humiliating status of najes (impure). The Judeo-Persian poetry of Shahin and Imrani attests to a rich literary culture.
This Great Book does not yet have published chapters. The chapters — each bearing its register, its epistemic status and its sources — will be added as editorial enrichment and assisted generation progress.
