The Yalkut Shimoni is the largest medieval anthology of midrash, arranged according to the verse order of the entire Hebrew Bible. Compiled probably in the thirteenth century, most likely by Rabbi Shimon of Frankfurt, it draws on dozens of tannaitic and amoraic collections, some now lost. It serves both as a running commentary and as a treasury of sources.
