Berakhot ("Blessings"), the first tractate of the Mishnah and Talmud, opens the order of Zera'im. It treats the recitation of the Shema, the eighteen blessings of the Amidah, blessings over food and grace after meals. Combining halakhah with many aggadot on prayer and providence, it forms the foundation of daily Jewish liturgy.
