The Sefer Refu'ot of Asaph ben Berekhyahu is one of the oldest medical treatises in Hebrew, probably dating to the early Middle Ages. It contains a medical oath, one of the earliest known Jewish medical ethics codes, forbidding poison and abortion and calling for respect toward the poor patient. The work blends Greek, Persian, and Jewish medicine.
This Great Book does not yet have published chapters. The chapters — each bearing its register, its epistemic status and its sources — will be added as editorial enrichment and assisted generation progress.
