The Sefer ha-Bahir ("Book of Brightness") is one of the first explicitly kabbalistic works, appearing in Provence in the twelfth century. Written as an enigmatic midrash, it introduces notions destined to become central, such as the divine powers (foreshadowing the sefirot) and feminine elements of the divine. It marks the emergence of medieval Kabbalah in southern France.
This Great Book does not yet have published chapters. The chapters — each bearing its register, its epistemic status and its sources — will be added as editorial enrichment and assisted generation progress.
