Nusach Ari is a prayer rite inspired by the kabbalistic teachings of Rabbi Isaac Luria (the Ari) of Safed, adopted by many Hasidic movements. Blending Ashkenazi and Sephardi elements, it gives great weight to the mystical intentions (kavanot) accompanying recitation. Spread by Hasidism from the eighteenth century onward, it exists in several variants according to the dynasties.
