The Italian rite, known as Benei Roma, is one of the oldest Jewish rites still in use, distinct from the Ashkenazi and Sephardi traditions. It goes back to the Jewish presence in Italy since Roman times and preserves its own piyyutim, melodies, and customs. Practiced in certain synagogues in Rome and Italy, it bears witness to a thousand-year liturgical continuity in southern Europe.
This Great Book does not yet have published chapters. The chapters — each bearing its register, its epistemic status and its sources — will be added as editorial enrichment and assisted generation progress.
