Region: Europe de l'Est, Maghreb, Orient
Intersection register · custodian, not owner
A folk art of paper cutting practised in many communities to make domestic and ritual objects: mizrah plaques marking the east, shiviti, and Sukkot and Shavuot decorations (roiselech). Symmetry, lions, columns and verses make up its ornamental vocabulary. This humble art reflects popular piety and visual imagination.
This Great Book does not yet have published chapters. The chapters — each bearing its register, its epistemic status and its sources — will be added as editorial enrichment and assisted generation progress.
