המַפְטִירִים והמוזיקה העברית-סוּפית של סלוניקי ואדירנה
Region: Empire ottoman (Salonique, Edirne)
Intersection register · custodian, not owner
A tradition of Sephardic paraliturgical songs in Hebrew composed to the makams of Ottoman and Sufi classical music, performed by men's choirs on Sabbath morning. Cultivated above all in Edirne and Salonika, it illustrates the fusion of Jewish liturgy and Turkish musical art. Largely destroyed by the Holocaust, it survives partly through anthologies and recordings.
This Great Book does not yet have published chapters. The chapters — each bearing its register, its epistemic status and its sources — will be added as editorial enrichment and assisted generation progress.
