היהודית-גאורגית (קיבּרוּלי) ויהודי גאורגיה
Region: Géorgie (Caucase)
Intersection register · custodian, not owner
A variety of Georgian used by the Jews of Georgia, incorporating a Hebrew and Aramaic lexicon proper to religious life, sometimes called Kivruli. A very ancient community, the Georgian Jews preserved distinct traditions and songs until their emigration to Israel. Their speech attests to a long symbiosis with Caucasian culture.
This Great Book does not yet have published chapters. The chapters — each bearing its register, its epistemic status and its sources — will be added as editorial enrichment and assisted generation progress.
