Since Isaac Luria wrote almost nothing, it was his disciple Hayim Vital (1542–1620) who recorded and organized his teaching, notably in Etz Chayim ("Tree of Life"). This commitment to writing shaped the spread of Lurianic Kabbalah throughout the Jewish world. The versions, recensions, and controversies surrounding these manuscripts illustrate the stakes of transmitting an esoteric oral tradition.
This Great Book does not yet have published chapters. The chapters — each bearing its register, its epistemic status and its sources — will be added as editorial enrichment and assisted generation progress.
