Devekut, "cleaving" or "attachment" to God, is a central spiritual ideal of Jewish mysticism and especially of Hasidism. It denotes a state of continuous communion of consciousness with the divine, sought in prayer, study, and even everyday acts. How to cultivate and live devekut prompted significant discussion among kabbalists and Hasidic masters.
