The birth of a periodical press in the Hebrew language, from Ha-Me'assef (1784), organ of the Berlin maskilim, to Ha-Maggid (1856), the first Hebrew weekly. These publications spread science, literature and Haskalah debates, forging a modern readership. They prepared the later rise of the Hebrew press and Zionist journalism.
This Great Book does not yet have published chapters. The chapters — each bearing its register, its epistemic status and its sources — will be added as editorial enrichment and assisted generation progress.
