A flourishing periodical press in Judeo-Spanish, printed in Rashi script and later in Latin letters, which developed in Salonika, Istanbul, Izmir and Sofia. Newspapers such as El Tiempo and La Epoka spread news, serialized fiction and modernizing debates. This press was a key vehicle of modernity in the Ottoman Sephardic world.
This Great Book does not yet have published chapters. The chapters — each bearing its register, its epistemic status and its sources — will be added as editorial enrichment and assisted generation progress.
