Beyond The Star of Redemption, Franz Rosenzweig (1886-1929) founded in 1920 in Frankfurt the Freies Jüdisches Lehrhaus, a free Jewish house of study for assimilated Jews seeking return. There he developed a pedagogy of dialogue and lived experience. With Martin Buber, he undertook a new German translation of the Bible.
