The chuppah is the canopy under which the Jewish wedding ceremony takes place, symbolizing the home the couple will build. Surrounding customs vary by community: the veiling of the bride (bedeken) among Ashkenazim, henna among Mizrahim, circling the groom, and the breaking of the glass recalling the Temple's destruction. The marriage contract (ketubah) is read during the ceremony.
This Great Book does not yet have published chapters. The chapters — each bearing its register, its epistemic status and its sources — will be added as editorial enrichment and assisted generation progress.
