יראת ה' ואהבת ה'
Intersection register · custodian, not owner
The fear (yirah) and love (ahavah) of God form a fundamental pair in Jewish spirituality, already present in the Torah and extensively developed by philosophers, moralists, and mystics. Tradition distinguishes fear of punishment from awe of the divine majesty, and self-interested love from disinterested love. Articulating these two dispositions is a central concern of religious service.
