The Hebrew University of Jerusalem, inaugurated in 1925 on Mount Scopus, was conceived as a symbol of the intellectual and scientific renewal of the Jewish people in the Land of Israel. Albert Einstein was among the supporters and members of the institution's first governing council, which welcomed leading scholars from its earliest days. It developed teaching and research in the sciences, humanities, Jewish studies, and later in medicine and numerous other fields. The university embodied the ambition of uniting the renaissance of Hebrew culture with integration into the global scientific community. Over the decades, it became one of Israel's principal academic institutions, contributing to the development of science and research in the country.
This Great Book does not yet have published chapters. The chapters — each bearing its register, its epistemic status and its sources — will be added as editorial enrichment and assisted generation progress.
