מתן שם לילד
Intersection register · custodian, not owner
Conferring the Hebrew name marks the child's entry into the community. For boys, the name is announced at the circumcision; for girls, during a Torah reading in the synagogue (zeved habat or simchat bat). Traditions differ: Ashkenazim often name in memory of a deceased relative, while many Sephardim honor a living forebear.
This Great Book does not yet have published chapters. The chapters — each bearing its register, its epistemic status and its sources — will be added as editorial enrichment and assisted generation progress.
