המיקרוגרפיה והקליגרפיה העברית הצוּרנית
Region: Orient, Espagne, Allemagne
Intersection register · custodian, not owner
A Jewish decorative technique forming images and ornamental motifs out of minuscule lines of Hebrew text, often Masoretic. Appearing in medieval Eastern Bibles, it adorns manuscripts, marriage contracts and amulets. Micrography illustrates how the prohibition of images was circumvented through writing itself.
This Great Book does not yet have published chapters. The chapters — each bearing its register, its epistemic status and its sources — will be added as editorial enrichment and assisted generation progress.
