Isaac Israeli ben Solomon (c. 855-955), a physician and philosopher based in Kairouan, is regarded as the first medieval Jewish Neoplatonic philosopher. His treatises on definitions, the elements, and fevers were translated into Latin and read in scholastic Europe. Physician to the founder of the Fatimid dynasty, he left a lasting mark on Jewish medicine and thought.
