Abraham bar Hiyya ha-Nasi (c. 1070-1145), a scholar of Barcelona, was among the first to compose scientific works in Hebrew. His Hibbur ha-Meshiha ve-ha-Tishboret deals with practical geometry and was translated into Latin as Liber embadorum. He also wrote on astronomy, the calendar, and philosophy, transmitting Greco-Arabic knowledge to Latin Europe.
