The masterwork of Kabbalah: a mystical commentary on the Torah written in Aramaic. Tradition attributes it to Rabbi Shimon bar Yochaï (2nd century); scholarship situates it in late thirteenth-century Castile, around Moses de León. A pillar of Jewish mysticism and Sephardic liturgy.
