Hebdomadaire juif ; d'abord publié le 20 février 1891 à Chicago. Fondé par Charles E. Bloch, de la Bloch Publishing Company, et publié par Bloch & Newman, il entra dans le domaine journalistique comme un advocate du judaïsme progressiste. Depuis sa création, il a été dirigé par Emil G. Hirsch, qui en était le seul éditeur au départ ; de 1901 à 1903 T. Schanfarber en fut l'éditeur associé. C'est le plus intrépide champion du judaïsme réformiste.
