"Contains a selection of forgotten and corner [laws]... of all the words from the roots therein are arranged and explained in easy order, [which] his companion and established Philip d'Aquin... [the] teacher of the Holy Language under the government of King Louis of Bourbon...". The author, Philip d'Aquin (ca. 1578–1650), was a convert to Christianity (his former name was Mordecai). King Louis XIII granted him the title of Professor of Hebrew Language. He authored and translated many books, including a translation of "Beḥinot ʻOlam" and Pirkei Avot with commentary on the Thirteen Attributes in French.
