Form requesting immigration permit (certificate) for Rabbi Samuel Kagan Chief Rabbi of Orcha and his wife Badana, signed by his brother-in-law Rabbi "Jacob Israel Kanievsky – Dean of Yeshiva 'Beit Yosef' Bnei Barak", and signed by Rabbi "Jonathan Benjamin HaLevi Horowitz, Chairman of Agudath Israel". [Hanukkah 1935]. Rabbi Samuel Elijah Kahan (1889–perished in the Shoah), son-in-law of Rabbi Schmarya Yosef Karlitz Chief Rabbi of Kosova, and brother-in-law of the "Ḥazon Ish" and the "Steipler". He was among the prominent disciples of the "Sabba" from Slobodka. He served as Chief Rabbi of Orcha (Minsk region) from 1898, under Communist rule. In the immigration permit form, only his wife Badana is mentioned, since they were childless. 19 × 25 cm. Condition fair, stains and tears at margins.
