Responsa Nodah BiYehudah, parts one and two. [Zolkva], 1823. Ownership signatures of various owners: Rabbi "Abraham Frischdat"; "the humble Abraham Schag of P.K."; "the humble Tzvi Hirsch, rabbi of Tartzal"; Rabbi "Shaul Roizenberg, head of the rabbinical court of Ratzferta" and his son Rabbi "Amram Rozenberg." Numerous scholarly glosses: some in the hand of Rabbi Abraham Schag [who signs several of them; see the gloss on leaf 26/2], some in the hand of Rabbi Abraham Frischdat [the first owner of the book], and some in the hands and with the signatures of Rabbi Shaul Rozenberg and his sons Rabbi Amram Rozenberg and Rabbi Mordechai Rozenberg. On the endpapers are various notes in the hand of Rabbi Tzvi Hirsch R.B. (Chief Justice) of Tartzal, who purchased the book that had belonged to Rabbi Abraham Schag, Chief Justice of Kobersdorf, who had emigrated to the Holy Land. The Gaon Rabbi Abraham Schag-Zwobner (1801–1873), one of the greatest disciples of the Chatam Sofer and among the leading figures of his generation. He resided in Frauenkirchen [mentioned in his signature — M.P.K.]. From 1827 he served as rabbi of Scharflau, and from 1852 was Chief Justice of Kobersdorf. In 1873 he ascended to Jerusalem together with his most distinguished disciple, Rabbi Yosef Chaim Sonnenfeld. The Gaon Rabbi Abraham Frischdat (died 1830), a disciple of Rabbi Meshulam Igra in Pressburg, and from 1803 Chief Justice of Komárno. The Chatam Sofer held him in great esteem and maintained a correspondence with him (see: Ishim BeTeshuvot Chatam Sofer, p. 30). The Gaon Rabbi Tzvi Hirsch Rozenberg, Chief Justice of Tartzal and Bátor; in 1875 he rose to succeed his father Rabbi Mordechai Rozenberg, Chief Justice of Tartzal (a disciple of Rabbi Abraham Schag). In his later years he served as rabbi in Pest. His brother, the Gaon Rabbi Shaul son of Rabbi Mordechai Rozenberg (1865–1940), a disciple of Maharam Schick and the Kol Aryeh. In 1904 he rose to serve as rabbi of Ratzfert in succession to his stepfather, the Admor Rabbi Naftali Hirtzka Frankel, Chief Justice of Ratzfert. He was among the most distinguished rabbis of Hungary and taught many disciples. From his youth he was a devoted Hasid of Rabbi Tzvi Hirsch of Liska, and he was among the most devoted Hasidim of the Admor MoHaRi"D of Belz. Remnants of his novellae were printed in the book Cheimdat Shaul in two parts (Jerusalem, 1969; Jerusalem, 1984). His son Rabbi Amram Rozenberg ascended in 1940 to succeed his father as Chief Justice of Ratzfert and perished in the Holocaust in 1944. [1], 72, 6, 6 leaves; [1], 108 leaves. 35.5 cm.
