Archive of halakhic responsa, sermons, copies of letters, Torah novellae, signed contracts for the sale of chametz, and more, from the estate of the Gaon Rabbi Yehonatan Eybeschütz, Av Beit Din of Lashitz, and his son-in-law Rabbi Aryeh Mordechai Rabinowitz, rabbi of Karov. The archive includes letters sent to Rabbi Yehonatan Eybeschütz from various rabbis, among them: his brother-in-law Rabbi Henoch Kaminer; Rabbi Shalom Yitzchak Sternberg, Dayan of Antwerp (1855–1936); Rabbi Moshe HaKohen Feuerstein of Sarnik; a letter bearing the signatures of the rabbis of Łódź from the year 1913; and more. Various pages of draft responsa, with numerous signatures of Rabbi "Yehonatan Eybeschütz, Av Beit Din of Lashitz." Copies in Rabbi Yehonatan's handwriting of letters from various rabbis, including copies of letters from Rabbi Yitzchak Zelig Morgenstern of Kotzk. Contracts for the sale of chametz in the handwriting of Rabbi Yehonatan Eybeschütz, and contracts for the sale of chametz by Rabbi Aryeh Mordechai Rabinowitz from the period of his tenure in Karov, and from the period of his service as rabbi in Batei Varsha in Jerusalem. Rabbi Yehonatan Eybeschütz, Av Beit Din of Lashitz (died in Warsaw in Cheshvan 1915), was born in Kotzk and was among the leading rabbis of Poland, a Hasid closely connected to the Rebbes of Kotzk and Gur. Some of his halakhic responsa were printed by his son-in-law, the rabbi of Karov, in the book Tiferet Yehonatan, Jerusalem 1934. The majority of the manuscripts before us were not printed there. His son-in-law, the Gaon Rabbi Aryeh Mordechai Rabinowitz — "the rabbi of Bnei Brak" (1885–1955) — was appointed to the rabbinate of the town of Kassov at the age of 16. During the Russo-Japanese War of 1905 he fled to the city of Brisk, where he spent approximately a year in the company of the Gaon Rabbi Chaim of Brisk, who held the young rabbi in great esteem. From 1913 he served for approximately ten years as rabbi of Karov (Kariów), until he ascended to the Land of Israel among the first settlers of Bnei Brak, where he served as rabbi of the colony. In 1929 he moved to Batei Varsha in Jerusalem, becoming known as one of the foremost authorities in halakha and Hasidism in the city. He published his father-in-law's book, together with his own novellae, under the title Kelil Tiferet. He also published the books: Keter HaYehudi, from the teachings of his grandfather the "Holy Jew"; Zechuta d'Avraham by his uncle Rabbi Avraham of Purisov; and additional works. Dozens of pages and page fragments, varying size, fair to poor condition, heavily worn with tears.
